About
One person. One of you.
Green Parrot Studio is one person in India making games about the India that's actually in front of us — not mythology, not Bollywood.
IndiaIndependentOne person
Why
- Every 'Indian' game was mythology or Bollywood.
- Nobody was making games about the chai stall, the family group, the 6pm signal.
- So I started.
Who's in them
- The tailor's daughter who measures every word.
- A postman in a river town, 1994.
- A founder in HSR Layout who hasn't slept.
- Nobody chosen. Nobody saving the world. People like us.
How they talk
- Hindi and English in the same breath, the way North India does it.
- Arre. Yaar. Chalo. Bas. Kya scene hai.
- No subtitles. No apologies.
The rules
- Every scene illustrated.
- If it wouldn't happen on a real Indian street, it doesn't go in.
- Choices you'd actually lose sleep over.
What's out
- Cutting Chai — free demo, in your browser.
- Seven more in development. Announced here when ready.
Who makes it
- Writing, art direction, code, voice direction — one person.
- And, evidently, the website.
“Arre, watch where you're going, yaar!”
— Priya, about four seconds into Cutting Chai
